The Original Trip

In 2011–2012, I homeschooled and world-schooled my tween niece as we traveled together through Southeast Asia. Along the way, she documented the journey in her own words—sharing what it felt like to climb temple steps in Myanmar, explore street food in Thailand, and ride tuk-tuks through Cambodia.

These stories are a kid’s-eye view of the world: curious, honest, and often hilarious. While I’ve added a few notes to update key travel details, the voice and experience are entirely hers. Each post is a time capsule from that first big adventure, written by an 11-year-old seeing the world for the very first time.
